Ensure your Motorcycle Test Success!
Ensure your Motorcycle Test Success! If you want to pass the motorcycle test to get licensed here is some valuable information to ensure your success. The practical DMV motorcycle test consists of: 1) Vision test 2) Vehicle Safety Quiz 3) Driving Test 4) Special Tactics First, check your local or state guidelines for motorcycle licensing and classes. If you are under 18 you will probably need a learner's permit to begin. Expect to show proof of citizenship and identity, as well as have your thumbprint and picture taken. There may also be a small application fee to take the motorcycle test. The DMV motorcycle test may also ask you a few questions about riding with a passenger. You may be also asked to demonstrate some general motorcycle knowledge like where to check the oil, hydraulic fluid, lights, chain wear, and steering efficiency. Vision Test: If you require glasses or contact lenses to pass the vision test you must always wear them when you are driving the motorcycle. You must let the motorcycle test administrators know if you have any eyesight condition, such as: color blindness, near-sight, far sight, ect. Also, tell the administrators if you have had vision correction surgery. The motorcycle test administrator will ask you to read aloud the numbers on a license plate. If you have a speech impediment, you may choose to write the numbers as you see them. If the answer is incorrect the administrator will measure the distance between you and the plate to make sure its within guidelines, and then they will re-administer the motorcycle vision test. They may change license plates if you are unable to give the correct numbers on the first one. Once you are successful with the vision test, you can move on to the practical. After the preliminaries, the motorcycle test will commence unless you are not wearing proper headgear. Head and neck injuries account for the most serious and fatal of motorcycle accidents, and these accidents happen a lot to new riders. Therefore, proper motorcycle safety helmets are required. Helmets should allow room for sunglasses or prescription glasses to be worn if needed, and air passage to prevent the visor from fogging. During the motorcycle test you'll be evaluated on: 1) Normal and emergency stops, 2) Distance following, 3) Speed, 4) U-Turns, 5) Pulling into traffic from a curb, 6) Checking blind spots, 7) Cornering (every curve is different), 8) Driving over uneven surfaces (i.e. railroad tracks, grating). 9) Driving your motorcycle in slow traffic. At the finish of your motorcycle test, the examiner will tell you if you have passed or failed. You have the opportunity for feedback and a motorcycle test retake after a waiting period. Success doesn't stop after you get your license; success continues every day by demonstrating your knowledge of motorcycles to ride safely and comfortably. Good luck on your motorcycle test!
